Suspect Arrested in Irvington Home Invasions, Sexual Assaults

Authorities in Essex County have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of home invasions and sexual assaults in Irvington. 

Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, alongside Irvington Public Safety Director Tracey Bowers, announced the arrest of 23-year-old Kedwens Auguste following a joint investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Irvington Police Department.  

Auguste faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree burglary, aggravated sexual assault, attempted aggravated sexual assault, and attempted criminal sexual contact. 

The charges stem from incidents that occurred on February 16 and February 18.

Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, working with Irvington investigators, analyzed surveillance footage and other evidence that ultimately led to Auguste’s identification and arrest on February 19.  

Auguste is currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility as he awaits a pre-trial detention hearing. 

Authorities are continuing to investigate, and anyone with additional information is urged to come forward.
