An early morning brief standoff that had a man barricade himself inside a residence in the city had police on the scene in Newark's South Ward.
The incident happened in the 200 block of Osborne Terrace at around 3 a.m. when authorities were called to a residence on reports of a stabbing in progress.
Officers arrived to the scene and found at least one victim suffering a stab injury and a male suspect refusing to come out of the residence according to initial reports.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Police eventually were able to talk the male suspect out of the house where he was apprehended without incident.
There was one other person that received medical attention at the scene but we were unable to immediately confirm if the victim was stabbed.
