Authorities in Union County are investigating an aggravated assault stabbing on a college campus in Union Tuesday night.
Kean University Police rushed to the scene following reports of a stabbing near the basketball courts adjacent to the Miron Student Center on the Union Campus at around 8:15 p.m.
According to a statement released by Kean University, a male student from Kean was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment after being stabbed in the chest during an altercation.
An initial investigation hinted at a possible link between the incident and individuals seen cycling around the campus.
Kean Police said the suspects reportedly left the scene swiftly after the stabbing.
While authorities have assured that there is no further threat to the community, they are not taking any chances.
To reassure the public and maintain safety, Kean University officials said additional police personnel patrolled the campus through the night.
