Police in Newark believe that a suspect fired shots at the victims during a violent carjacking incident that occurred in a section of the city's North Ward Wednesday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, several people dialed 911 after hearing gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue and Mccarter Highway around 1 a.m.
Police arrived and found multiple shell casings on the ground and the window of a house in the 100 block of Mount Pleasant Avenue struck by bullets. Offcials say no one inside the home suffered injuries.
The shots fired incident and the reported carjacking is under investigation.
