Stormy Start to the Week in Newark, North Jersey Region on St. Patrick’s Day

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

The early morning hours brought stormy conditions to the Newark and North Jersey region, with scattered lightning strikes and heavy downpours sweeping through the area.

While the worst of the storm has passed, the rain isn’t over just yet.

Residents can expect additional drenching showers throughout St. Patrick’s Day, making for a soggy start to the new week.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are currently in the upper 50s and will remain steady for much of the day.

Showers will persist through the early morning, with rain tapering off by 8 a.m. Temperatures will rise to around 58 degrees by 10 a.m. before gradually dropping to near 50 degrees as the day progresses.

Winds will shift northwest at 5 to 14 mph, with gusts reaching up to 24 mph.

By Monday night, the skies will begin to clear. After a mostly cloudy evening, conditions will transition to mostly clear skies overnight, with temperatures dipping to a chilly 35 degrees.

While the worst of the storm is behind us, wet conditions will linger, so those heading out for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations should plan accordingly.

Stay safe and dry, and have a great day, New Jersey!
