Newark police recovered a stolen vehicle Sunday evening that was linked to two armed robberies at gas stations in Hillside Township, authorities said.
Union County officials had alerted area police departments to be on the lookout for a white Chevy SUV, reportedly stolen out of Irvington, that was used in the robberies along Route 22 shortly before 6:30 p.m.
While canvassing the South Ward, Newark officers located the unoccupied vehicle on Fabian Place and secured the scene.
Hillside Police were notified and requested the vehicle be held as part of their ongoing investigation.
The suspects involved in the robberies remain at large, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
