State Police announced the arrest of 61 people after several concert goers climbed fences and tried get past security at the MetLife entrance gate for the Summer Jam Concert, a major hip-hop concert at the stadium. The crowds became upset when the gates were closed and blocked off by police in riot gear, officials said.
According to police, the crowd threw bottles and trash at police and security.
State Troopers used shields and helmets to avoid injuries from flying objects.
Officials said extra troopers were called in from nearby stations to assist. Authorities said about eight troopers suffered minor injuries during the confrontation.
