NJ State Police officials are investigating the cause of a crash that killed a person on a highway in Middlesex County Thursday morning.
Preliminary information indicated that at approximately 12:10 a.m., Troopers responded to reports of a crash with injuries in the northbound lanes of the NJ Turnpike near mile marker 93.8 in Carteret.
Police arrived and found the crash scene with an unconscious and unresponsive person suffering severe injuries.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene, and one other person was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick for treatment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
