On our 18th day of honoring Black History Month, RLS Media turns the spotlight to Michael Bakari Jordan, an acclaimed American actor who has maintained strong connections with Newark, New Jersey, where I had the privilege of having him as a student. TigerAt 32, Jordan has already carved out an impressive career in Hollywood, notable for roles in "Fruitvale Station," "Creed," and as the unforgettable Erik Killmonger in "Black Panther," all directed by Ryan Coogler.

Born in California but raised in Newark, Jordan's journey began at Newark Arts High School, where he played varsity basketball.

His ascent in the acting world is marked by critically acclaimed performances, drawing comparisons to greats like Denzel Washington.

Demonstrating this dedication, Jordan generously donated thousands of free "Black Panther" movie tickets to Newark's youth, ensuring local kids could experience the film's magic.

His surprise visit to Barringer High School in Newark, in collaboration with The Future Project's Dream Directors, was a testament to his ongoing efforts to inspire students to chase their dreams.
