Authorities in Newark are investigating the motive for a stabbing that occurred in a Newark South Ward neighborhood Thursday night.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Madison and Clinton avenues to investigate reports of an injured person at approximately 8:25 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene notified EMS after they found the unidentified victim suffering a stab injury in the neck.
The conscious and alert victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and expected to recover according to reports.
Police said no arrests have been made.
