Stabbing Suspect Wanted by Newark Police

A $300,000.00 warrant has been issued for Jamal Babbs, 28, of Newark, in connection with a stabbing in the area of Hawthorne Avenue and Leslie Street on Monday.

Police said in a press release that at approximately 8:40 p.m., Newark Police responded to the area on a call for assistance.

A 20-year old male victim had been stabbed during the course of a robbery police said.

The victim arrived at Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries.

As part of their investigation, detectives developed evidence that Jamal Babbs is a suspect in this Aggravated Assault incident.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing Babbs from the streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
