Police in Newark are investigating a stabbing that left a man severely injured in Newark's North Ward overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the Grafton Avenue, near the Waterfront Center, after receiving reports of a person shot at that location.
Units arrived at the scene found a male victim bleeding heavily from the neck after what appeared to be a gunshot wound according to reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors declared that the injury was not a gunshot wound but the victim was stabbed with a sharp object to the neck.
Police are looking into who assaulted the man and the motive behind the incident.
