Newark police are searching for several suspects -believed to be juveniles- for a strong-armed carjacking in the city's South Ward Monday morning.
Police said at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 153 Dewey Street to investigate reports of a carjacking in progress.
Upon arrival, the victim told police that several suspects had taken their grey 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe using strong-armed tactics then sped from the scene.
Police say just before 1 a.m., officers canvassing parts of the city located the vehicle and began chasing the car on I-280 west towards East Orange.
Cops lost the carjacked vehicle near Halstead Street after the driver reached speeds over 75 mph.
Police reported no serious injuries in the carjacking.
