Somerset Man Indicted on Charges of Bias Intimidation, Making Terroristic Threats

Somerset County

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L. C. Kuberiet announced that a Somerset man was charged in an indictment for crimes of bias intimidation and making terrorist threats towards police officers.

Officials say Daniel McDonald, 25, of Somerset was indicted for one count of first-degree bias intimidation, one count of second-degree bias intimidation, and two counts of making terroristic threats in the third degree.

The indictment was handed up on February 6, following a presentation to the grand jury by Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Russell Curley.

McDonald was charged following an investigation by the Jamesburg Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

On December 23, 2019, in the Borough of Jamesburg, police were dispatched to respond to an incident on Stockton Avenue involving a disturbance in a parked car. As police were speaking to McDonald, he became belligerent towards the police officers, according to officials.

He continued to yell and curse at police with threatening language, racial slurs, and profanities. When placed in the rear of a police vehicle, he attempted to kick out the window of the police car and was then arrested. At police headquarters, McDonald continued to threaten acts of violence against police officers.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Jason Muller of the Jamesburg Police Department at (732) 521-0011
