Newark residents are waking up to a soggy morning after a night of heavy rain.
While the heaviest downpours are expected to clear out by 7 a.m., the aftermath of the overnight dangerous storm will continue to pose challenges, particularly in flood-prone areas of North Jersey.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is forecasted mainly before 10 a.m., with a high near 52 degrees.
A north wind blowing at 6 to 10 mph accompanies an 80% chance of precipitation.
NWS forecasters say new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch are possible, which may exacerbate the flooding issues and lead to a messy cleanup even after the rain subsides.
Thursday night will likely see more rain, mainly before 1 a.m., along with patchy fog.
The skies will remain cloudy, with a low of around 46 degrees. The chance of precipitation stands at 60%, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.
Residents are advised to stay alert, especially in areas known for flooding, and to keep updated with the latest weather forecasts as the region recovers from the storm's impact.
