A threat made on a social media platform had police in the western Essex County town of West Caldwell lock down a music marathon fundraiser on Saturday.
Authorities confirmed that James Caldwell High School was under lockdown on Saturday afternoon during an all-day music event after a concern was raised about a potential threatening post.
According to a statement released by police, West Caldwell Police was notified of a potential threat at the high school sending officers to the scene to investigate.
School administrators placed the school in a lockdown status as a precaution until police finished their search of the school authorities said.
Police have not confirmed several rumors of a former student of the school posing on the social media platform with a gun that may have sparked the lockdown.
The West Caldwell Police Department is currently handling the investigation.
