A police investigation is underway this morning into a terroristic threat made specifically to African American students then an overall school bomb threat on a social media page against the Kean University Campus overnight.
According to reports, Kean University police are looking into a post made by a person using the twitter name going by “@keanuagainstblk ” who tweeted out earlier in the evening the following: “I will kill every black male and female at kean university.” and “kean university theres a bomb on your campus.”
The reported threats had hundreds of students and parents contact University Police overnight who returned a brief statement via Twitter saying “We are aware of the situation on Twitter and it is being looked into.” Campus authorities reminded everyone on campus to contact authorities if they see anyone, or hear anything that's appear suspicious.
Students took to the campus for peaceful gatherings with student body president, Nigel Donald who eventually tweeted the following to students late last night after hearing about the threatening tweets, “I’m asking Kean students -as your student leader- to not attend classes tomorrow as recent threats have been made against the campus.”
According to campus authorities, there is a full investigation underway into who sent the tweet and it's credibility.
"As with any day, our campus is fully secured and policed 24-hours a day. Our police department, security officers, and local authorities patrol the campus daily in an effort to assure safety for staff, students, and anyone that visits our campus. We thoroughly investigate any and all incidents that attempt to undermine the safety, security, and well- being of our campus" authorities said.
Authorities took immediate action and notified local, state and federal law enforcement authorities to the situation.
As of approximately 10:30 a.m. today, the '@keanuagainstblk' account was suspended from Twitter.
