Forecasters are urging commuters to use cautions as a weather system carrying freezing rain and heavy snow is expected to accumulate around 1-3 inches in the northern portion of the state.
According to forecasters at the National Weather Service, low pressure along a frontal boundary off the East Coast will move northeastward, generally paralleling the coast today.
Forecasters said this system will bring early morning rain that will then change to snow in portions of Northern New Jersey through Friday morning, lasting into the afternoon.
Portions of the state will see the potential for heavy snowfall with accumulations of 3 to 6 inches forecasters predict.
Snowfall from this system will potentially make the morning commute difficult for some areas, as roads may become snow covered and slippery forecasters said.
