The West Orange Arts Council (WOAC) presents a sizzling summer pop-up art gallery show from July 23-August 13, 2023, at the West Orange Arts Center on 551 Valley Road, officials announced.
According to WOAC officials, a summer artist's reception is planned for Saturday, July 29, from 1–3 p.m. in the gallery and sculpture courtyard of the West Orange Arts Center.
This Pop-up exhibition though short-lived and far from traditional in theme, packs a wide range of mediums from sculpture to digital portraiture, expands and harnesses the creativity in us all.
The features participating West Orange Arts Council member artists: Wendy A. Born, Mary Byrnes, Jeanette Centeno, Colleen Creedon, Kwaku Debrah, Rona Goldfarb, Jackie Hernandez, Jennifer Larsen, and Josiah Millington.
The WOAC has seen a surge in membership this past spring, welcoming both longtime and new community residents, officials said.
"We are delighted with the enthusiasm surrounding this exhibit and are excited to welcome the community for these end-of-summer festivities," states Patricia Mitrano, Chair of the West Orange Arts Council.
The West Orange Arts Council understands the value of having a space devoted to arts and culture in our community, and it is happy to have secured funds from the NJ Department of the Secretary of Higher Education.
"Our NJ Career Accelerator Grant has enabled us to work with two dynamic summer college interns who significantly impact our programming and behind-the-scenes operations."
Officials say the WOAC Gallery and Gift Shop hours are Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sundays from Noon-3 pm, and by appointment until Sunday, August 13, and will reopen on Saturday, September 9, for the installation of a Hispanic Heritage Exhibit, "Unidos."
