Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that a 6-year-old boy drowned yesterday at Liberty Lakes Day Camp on Florence Columbus Road.
The tragic incident occurred just before 2 p.m. when the boy was found unresponsive in a swimming pool and was pulled out by a lifeguard.
Camp staff members immediately attempted life-saving measures, but despite their efforts, the boy was transported by ambulance to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be performed today by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood to determine the exact cause of death.
The investigation is currently being conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office in collaboration with the Mansfield Township Police Department.
No additional information is expected to be released today.
