With the recent elevated lead levels found in Newark schools' drinking water, the Newark Department of Health will be providing free blood screenings for children.
These optional screenings are being offered as a precaution for families who have expressed interest. However, officials advise that you contact your primary care physician first with any concerns.
All students must be accompanied by an adult/guardian that has the authority to provide consent for the lead screening. Patients will be asked to provide insurance information during the registration process. If the patient is uninsured, the testing will be performed free of charge.
In addition to the sites provided by Newark Public Schools, there are other sites that are available for blood screenings provided by Community Organizations. If interested in taking advantage of any of the opportunities below, please call the number associated with each organization for more information.
