ShotSpotter Device Detects Shots Fired Incident in Newark's Central Ward

Police are investigating a shots-fired incident in Newark's Central Ward on Tuesday morning. 

According to police, at approximately 1 a.m., a ShotSpotter device activated when gunfire rang out in the area of Prince Street and Clarion Lane. 

Newark 4th Precinct Unit arrived and requested the Major Crimes Unit to assist in the investigation. 

Officers searched the area, but no victims were found. 

The incident remains under investigation.
