ShotSpotter Device Detects Over a Dozen Rounds of Gunfire on Newark's Hunterdon Street

Newark Police officials are investigating a shooting that resulted in property damage in the city's South Ward Sunday afternoon. 

A ShotSpotter Device detected more than 13 rounds of gunfire near 378 Hunterdon Street around 4 p.m. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple shell casings and after searching the area for victims, police found a damaged car struck by bullets. 

Police say a notification was sent to the region's hospitals to look out for potential gunshot victims, but no injuries were reported. 

The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
