Newark Police were promptly alerted to a shooting incident in the city's North Ward on Wednesday evening, thanks to one of the city's ShotSpotter devices.The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. near 234 Oraton Street, where reports of shots fired were quickly followed by police action.
Upon arrival, officers cordoned off the community after discovering several shell casings at the scene.
Despite an extensive search of the area, no victims were found. The suspect involved in the shooting managed to flee and remains at large.
The motive behind this shooting is currently under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events of Wednesday night.
