ShotSpotter Activation Leads to Police Investigation in Newark's South Ward

Authorities in Essex County are currently investigating a shots-fired incident that unfolded in Newark's South Ward on Monday evening.AdNewark Police were summoned to the vicinity of 99 Clinton Place shortly before 6:00 p.m. following a ShotSpotter alert that detected gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of a shooting, including several shell casings scattered around the neighborhood.

Despite a thorough search by police, no victims were found at the scene. Newark's Shooting Response Team was called in to assist with the investigation.

As of now, no suspects have been apprehended, and the individual responsible for the gunfire remains at large.AdThe investigation continues as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
