An early morning ShotSpotter activation in a section of Paterson alert police of a shooting Sunday.
According to police, at approximately 3:17 a.m., gunfire ragout on 12th Avenue prompting police to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after searching the area, no victims were located.
A short time later, officials at St. Joseph's Hospital alerted police officials of a male victim who entered the emergency department suffering a bullet wound.
Police say the victim told them that he suffered his injuries after a suspect fired at him on 12th Avenue.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at-large.
