Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for a shots fired incident that occurred on a street in the city's North Ward on Wednesday night.
According to police, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of a shooting that occurred in the area of North 5th Street and 4th Avenue at approximately 10:35 p.m.
Several police units arrived at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a search of the area, there were no injuries reported.
Police say a dark colored vehicle -possibly a Mercedes Benz- arrived in the area and fired about six rounds at an unknown target before speeding away from the scene.
The same vehicle led police on a brief pursuit after reports of gunfire rang out in the 800 block of South 19th Street at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Units arrived ay that location to investigate and observed a dark colored vehicle speeding from the scene. The suspects remain at-large.
Both incidents are under investigation.
