A vehicle occupied by several suspects, wanted in connection with at least one report of a shots fired in the city's South Ward, led police on a pursuit before they reportedly burned the car on a Newark North Ward street overnight.
According to preliminary reports, several rounds of gunfire rang out on the 200 block of Hobson Street around 10:30 p.m., sending several police units to the scene where they found evidence that a shooting had occurred but no victims were immediately located.

A search of the area led officers to a car that had been struck by a bullet and located at least two shell casings.
Police began to follow a silver-grey Infinity G-35 that was occupied by at least four suspects who refused to stop when officers attempted to pull it over.
The vehicle - with reported Pennsylvania license plate numbers "JZY-5962" - recklessly sped from the area of Clinton Place and Nye Avenue, according to reports.
A short time later, residents in the 40's block of North 12th Street contacted police and firefighters when they observed four suspects exit a vehicle that caught on fire at approximately 11:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire, according to reports.
Police are investigating whether the same suspects are wanted for firing shots in the North Ward that led to a pursuit by Essex County Sheriff Officers shortly before 10 p.m.
The suspects remain at-large.
