Police in Jersey City are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured a person on a street in the city overnight.
According to police, units were dispatched to the 200 block of Old Bergen Road to investigate reports of shots fired at around 8:40 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a search of the area, no victims were located. Witnesses told police that the victim entered a car that sped from the scene.
A short time later, offcials at Jersey City Medical Center contacted police when a male gunshot victim entered the emergency room.
Police learned that the shooting took place near Triangle Park.
The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
