Passaic County officials are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured a male in a section of Paterson on Monday night.
According to police, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officials at St. Joseph's Hospital contacted police that a male victim entered the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound in his back.
Police were told that the shooting occurred in the area of Pennington Street and 17th Avenue, according to officials.
Officers taped the area off after detectives found shell casings at that location.
Officials said the extent of the victim's injuries has been reported as serious at this time.
