Police in Jersey City took the victim of a shooting into custody after finding the injured male in possession of drugs Friday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out near 286 Linden Avenue around 10:25 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering a non-life threatening injury at that location.
Police said the victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment and is expected to recover.
During the investigation, police say they found the victim in possession of a several bundles of drugs then placed him in custody at the hospital.
The suspect who fired the shots fled the scene and is at large. The motive for the shooting is being investigated.
