Shooting Supect Arrested in Newark

Police said Michael Rodgers who was wanted for a shooting on July 8th, was arrested by members of the Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team early this morning.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred in the 300 block of 14th Avenue. The victim, a 35-year-old Newark resident was taken to UMDNJ and released after being treated for his injuries.

Detectives from the Cease Fire Shooting response Team conducted the investigation and quickly determined that Rodgers’ was the gunman authorities said.

Cease Fire Detectives provided this information to the Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) who immediately began to search for him.

Rodgers was located in a South 17th Street residence where F.A.T. Detectives arrested him without further incidence.

Rogers was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a gun and possession of the gun for unlawful purposes stemming from the shooting.

These are mere allegation lodged against Rogers. He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
