Newark Police officials are looking into the motive behind a shots-fired incident in a section of the city on Thursday.
According to a preliminary investigation, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 269 South 8th Street after gunfire rang out in the neighborhood around 8:47 p.m.
Police arrived and found shell casings, but no victims were located after they canvassed the area.
Newark's major Crimes Shooting Team was notified and responded to assist in the investigation.
Authorities have not announced an arrest in the incident.
