Newark Police are actively seeking suspects following a shooting incident near Jesse Allen Park in the city's Central Ward on Sunday afternoon.
The incident, which occurred around 4:10 p.m., prompted a police response after a ShotSpotter device triggered an alert on the Muhammad Ali Boulevard side of the park.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered several shell casings near the intersection of Irvine Turner Boulevard, indicating confirmed gunfire in the area.
Despite an extensive search of the surroundings, no victims were identified, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
The motive behind Sunday's gunfire remains a mystery.
Newark Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as they continue to gather evidence and work towards apprehending those responsible.
