Shooting Leaves 37-Year-Old Man Dead in Newark

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the fatal shooting of Steve Walker, 37, of Newark.

According to authorities, at approximately 11:51 p.m. yesterday, Walker was shot multiple times in the vicinity of 33 Hanford Street in Newark.

Authorities said he was pronounced dead at 12:31 a.m. today at University Hospital.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

At this time, there have been no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified authorities said.
