An early morning shooting in East Orange has authorities investigating a homicide a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that erupted in the area of Ashland Avenue and Prospect Terrace shortly before 2 a.m. where officers arrived to find a male victim struck by gunfire according to authorities.
The man, who is reported to be in his early 30's, was rushed to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene searching for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
