Essex County law enforcement officials are looking into a shooting that left one person dead in Newark overnight.
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the 400 block of South 15th Street sent police to the scene where they found a male victim bleeding heavily from his head after someone fired a shot that struck him.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel according to reports.
According to reports, a male suspect who wore all black and a mask approached the victim armed with a gun then began to fire at point-blank range.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation and as Major Crimes detectives search for the suspect.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
