Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police announced today that a shooting is under investigation.
According to Middlesex authorities, on Sunday, June 4, at approximately 10:54 p.m., authorities responded to the area of Throop Avenue and Delavan Street following the report of a shooting.
Officials said upon their arrival, officers located one male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, Markel Williams, 28, of New Brunswick, was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, authorities say.
Initial investigation has revealed that this does not appear to be a random act of violence, and there does not appear to be a threat to the public, according to officials.
