Officials from The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are leading the investigation into a shooting incident that happened in Pleasantville on Saturday. At 11:32 a.m., the Pleasantville Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 317 West Park Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Andrew Miller, 31, of Pleasantville, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Miller was promptly transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – City Division for medical treatment.
According to a statement released from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect fled the scene in a Lexus, which the New Jersey State Police later intercepted on the Atlantic City Expressway.
The driver, identified as Mr. Marlon Chiles II, 26, of Atlantic City, was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana after a substantial quantity was found in his vehicle.
Officials said Chiles is currently held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, awaiting a detention hearing.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department are investigating the incident, with support from the New Jersey State Police, the Atlantic City Police Department, and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department.
