The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified of a shooting incident that left a person severely injured in Carteret on Tuesday night.
Police were dispatched to the area of 100 Roosevelt Avenue around 10:10 p.m. following reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified individual suffering from gunshot wounds, including one to the chest.
CPR was administered to the victim at the scene before they were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects or arrests at this time.
The incident has prompted heightened concern in the community, with residents expressing shock and dismay over the violence that occurred in their neighborhood.
