A shooting in Jersey City resulted in serious injuries for one individual early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. near 261 Bright Street.
Jersey City Police were called to the scene following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large crowd and immediately called for backup.
During their investigation at the scene, police discovered several shell casings and a person suffering from gunshot wounds.
The injured individual was quickly transported to Jersey City Medical Center for medical treatment. As of 4:15 a.m., the full extent of their injuries remains unconfirmed.
The Jersey City Shooting Unit has been called to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Currently, no motive has been established for the shooting.
Authorities continue to work diligently, gathering evidence and information to understand the circumstances leading up to this violent event.
