Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that erupted in Newark's Central Ward on Monday.
Students walking home from school and enjoying outdoor activities at a nearby park ducked for cover after two gunmen fired rounds at unknown targets in the area of Livingston Street and Irvine Turner Boulevard.
Police responded to a ShotSpotter device that activated around 3:49 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple shell casings.
Officers searched inside Nat Turner Park and the area around the play area for possible victims, but no injuries were reported.
Police believe two black males, possibly juveniles exchanged nearly a dozen rounds of bullets before running from the scene.
The suspects have not been captured at this time.
