Authorities are investigating a shots fired incident in Newark’s North Ward on Tuesday night after shell casings were recovered at the scene.
The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. near 170 Manchester Place, where a ShotSpotter device alerted police to gunfire in the area.
Units from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office responded and located ballistics near the train tracks. Despite a thorough search of the area, no victims were found.
Newark’s Shooting Response Team has been called in to assist with the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made at this time.
