Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Jersey City on Sunday, June 2.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said the 22-year-old female victim reported that in the morning hours, she was approached by an unknown male in a Journal Square neighborhood, and she entered the white vehicle he was operating.
Officials stated the male drove the victim a short distance to the area of Division Street and Eighth Street at approximately 7 a.m., where she reported being sexually assaulted in the vehicle.
During the early stages of the preliminary investigation, officials said a person of interest was identified.
According to officials, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, remains investigating the matter.
