Police in Dunellen are looking into an incident where a person was suffering severe injuries on a street in the Borough during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, witnesses contacted police when they found the victim lying on the ground suffering a severe head injury just before 1:30 a.m. in the vicinity of South Washington and Prospect streets.
EMS arrived and immediately provided life-saving techniques on the victim then rushed them to the hospital for further treatment.
It was initially believed that the victim was struck by a train on nearby tracks, but NJ Transit officials reached by phone could not confirm any incidents in Dunellen.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
