EMS rushed a male victim to Rober Wood Johnson University Hospital in critical condition after being shot in a section of New Brunswick on Tuesday night.
According to police, at approximately 8:15 p.m., gunfire rang out near the intersection of Suydam and Throop avenues, sending about a dozen police officers to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers found the unidentified male suffering life-threatening injuries after bullets struck him at that location.
Police taped off the area, then notified the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office to assist in the investigation. There was no immediate confirmation of a fatality.
There were unconfirmed reports of one other person shot with non-fatal injuries.
Police announced no arrests in the shooting at this time.
