Several Displaced in Two-Alarm Jersey City Building Fire

Jersey City

Several residents were displaced after a fire tore through a second-floor unit at an apartment building in Jersey City early Tuesday, according to Jersey City Fire Department.

Officials say firefighters responded at about 12:40 a.m. to a report of a structure fire in the 70's block of Hutton Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the second floor of a three-story apartment building.

Crews were able to swiftly knock the blaze down in under an hour. They then searched the structure for trapped and injured occupants. There were no victims found.

Officials said the fire was contained to the apartment with little extensions to neighboring homes in the building. About a half dozen residents were displaced due to the fire.

There were no injuries reported.
