Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reported the relocation of four adults and two children after a fire made their residence uninhabitable.
Members of the Newark Fire Division responded to a one alarm fire in the 300 block of South 18th Street at approximately 12:00p.m Sunday.
Crews declared the fire under control shortly after 12:50 p.m.
According to authorities, occupants of the two and a half story dwelling were uninjured. The American Red Cross assisted the family with temporary housing arrangements authorities said.
The origins and cause of the fire are currently under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor Office and Newark Fire Division Arson Squads.
Director Ambrose commends the Fire Division for their quick response which ensured that all of occupants were safely evacuated.
