Firefighters in Newark made fast work out of a quick-moving fire that damaged a house in the city's South Ward Sunday.
Early morning fire broke out inside a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed house at 26 Eckert Avenue around 1 a.m.
Crews arrived and found fire on the top floor but managed to locate the seat of the blaze swiftly.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and The American Red Cross provided emergency shelter to several of the home's occupants.
