About a dozen people were displaced after a building collapsed in a Jersey City neighborhood causing an immediate evacuation overnight.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the to the vicinity of 253 Claremont Avenue after learning of a collapse of a building that occurred just before 1 a.m.
Crews arrived to find the structure partially collapse of a wall and began to evacuate occupants from nearby building numbers 166, 168, 251, 249, and 247 according to reports.
The American Red Cross arrived at the scene and assisted displaced residents.
There were no injuries reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
